The EU Commissioner for Research and Innovation, Mrs. Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, has announced that the new name for the future EU funding programme for research and innovation will be "Horizon 2020 - the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation". The funding programme will start on 1 January 2014 following the end of FP7 on 31 Dec 2013.

The Sixth European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning will take place from September 20 to 23, 2011, in sunny Palermo, Italy. The conference provides strategists with insights on recent developments in TEL research. It also provides a unique opportunity to meet with both academic and commercial partners of the current European RTD projects in TEL. 

Main results of stellar stakeholders seminars on future agenda for TEL research
In autumn 2010, STELLAR organised a set of workshops within relevant european events to discuss with different TEL stakeholders, including national and EU policy makers, the future research agenda for research in Technology enhanced Learning. Ambient Insight has published a new forecast report on the "The US Market for Self-paced eLearning Products and Services: 2010-2015 Forecast and Analysis". They predict, that the market will grow to $24.2 billion by 2015.
In average, they predict a 5.9% growth rate for the eight buyer segments identified, but the PreK-12, healthcare, and association segments are expected to show with 16.8%, 16.3%, and 14.3% much fast growth.
