1.Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship
Up to 70 available across all disciplines (Mathematics won two last
year). Fellowship provides 3 years of salary plus a small support fund
of £6 k pa
Scheme is suitable for those early career researchers who have not yet
held a permanent academic position. Up to 5 years post doc experience
measured from the date of viva to the deadline (March 10^th 2011). All
applicants should have either a degree from, or hold a fixed term
lectureship / fellowship at, a UK institution

2.Royal Society Newton Fellowship
Up to 40 available for all subjects within the physical sciences
(including engineering), social sciences and humanities.
Scheme is suitable for those early career researchers who have not yet
held a permanent academic position, are not UK citizens, are not based
in the UK at the time of application and should have held no more than
two post doctoral positions or their equivalent. Early contact between
academic mentors and potential applicants is essential.
Duration is 2 years and the fellowship pays a stipend (£24 k pa), £8 k
pa expenses, £2k relocation and a further £6k pa for 10 years to support
networking activities with the UK. Overheads are awarded at 50% of
total annual costs for Years 1 and 2.
