Visualization techniques have emerged as a way to assist people in dealing with the abundance of information offers. They make use of Gestalt principles such as proximity, continuity, or closure. They rely on the design of effective and efficient interactive visual representations that users can manipulate to solve specific tasks. Visualisations and displays have become a pervasive part of our environments, not only to present, but also strongly to interact with the underlying data. Using visualisations and displays for learning purposes, however, is slightly different than 'just' information visualisation.
This group has been created to establish a forum for researchers of visualisations in technology-enhanced learning. It has been started off from the first workshop on Ambient Displays and Visualisation in TEL, which took place in the context of the 6th European Conference on Technology-Enhanced Learning on September 20, 2011, in Palermo, Italy.
