Hello and welcome to the getting started page for the Research 2.0 workshop at the ECTEL 2010 conference.
This is a short outline to get you started.
First, become a member of TELeurope. Everyone can join. Besides this, you will find interesting groups, and you can create your own network.
It is easy to become a member. Go to http:/
Just a small remark. We encourage everyone to post your work to this group already before the submission to easychair. We think that getting feedback on your work is essential for research. Normally you would write alone on your paper or just in your group and then submit it to the conference. We think we can do it in a different way to enable an early feedback and to foster discussion. To do so, post your work early to this group. Either as a "group page" or as a "group file". This could be just a couple of thoughts, a summary, the structure of your paper, bits and pieces, the whole paper, etc. Set the access rights as you can see in the following picture:
Then start a group discussion and link to the page or file. Other group members can now directly comment on your work.
You can also set write access more restrictive, for example to private. Then, others can still comment on your group discussion, but not anymore directly on your page.
Comment on the work of others as well. If you write your comments directly into the group page make sure that you make your edits visible. For example with a syntax like:
// my comment or
# another comment #
Comments by others will help you with your writings and others will benefit from your comments. Use this opportunity.
The review of your paper is separate from this activity. You still have to submit your final paper through easychair. The reviewers will only take into account what you submitted and not what you have discussed here. This group page here is meant to help you to engage with others and to get early feedback on your work. The review process will be the usual one.
One thing will help you to keep track of the discussions in this group:
Go to "Settings" (see on top of the webpage). Under "group notifications", you can choose how you would like to get informed about the latest updates.
Maybe this was not a small remark, but an important one :-).
