dataTEL - EATEL SIG on Data-driven Research and Learning Analytics
In the educational world, only very limited datasets are publicly available and no agreed quality standards exist on the personalization of learning. The SIG dataTEL aims to address these issues by advancing data driven research to gain verifiable and valid results and to develop a body of knowledge about the personalization of learning.

Application/Environment

The ROLE dataset originates from the FP7 ROLE project on Responsive Open Learning Environments. Within this project, research is focused on enabling learners to construct their own personal learning environment. Data from such PLEs was gathered that tracks events of students from 5 courses at RWTH Aachen during one semester. The data records actions of students in a knowledge map, the selection of resources, and interactions between students using a chat widget.

Dataset coverage

The data set is a complete reflection of the data obtained for a 6 months time period. Around 30.000 actions are recorded on 11.000 resources from 392 users.

Legal Protection/Access Policy

The data set is private. Parts of the dataset made anonymous could be shared under creative commons
license and signing of a non-disclosure agreement.
