I work on the STELLAR project and have been involved in putting together the programme for the summer school. I was also responsible for communicating about STELLAR awards to PhD candidates that applied for funding.
I live in Bristol, England although I was born in South Africa. I work at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Bristol. I was at the Summer School last year and at the Winter School earlier this year.

I am PhD student at the department of Media Technology and Graphic Arts at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden. I have a background both in Telecommunication and Information Systems from universities in Austria and Sweden.
My research focus lies on loose and non-invasive collaboration, metadata interoperability and Semantic Web technologies, in particular applications of Linked Open (Meta)Data in the contexts of Technology Enhanced Learning and Environmental Sustainability. I am also one of the leading architects and developers behind numerous Open Source projects, such as the collaboration server Collaborilla, the concept browser Conzilla, the SCAM metadata and resource management framework, and the web-based electronic portfolio application Confolio.
I am very much looking forward to the Summer School in Ohrid, as it was much fun get to know people and attend these events in the past!

Hello,
I am a researcher at the Knowledge Media Research Center (KMRC) in Tuebingen, Germany, where I am a member of the STELLAR Network of Excellence. My research interests include design research, socio-technical communities, CSCL as well as the implementation and evaluation of digital learning environments. I started working on my Ph.D. in Novermber 2007 as part of a project to foster key competencies with new technologies funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
I am also working on evaluating the STELLAR-funded doctoral events, so if you have feedback or ideas about the event, let me know =)

I am from Romania. I am a PhD student at Polytechnic University Bucharest, Faculty of Automatics and Computer Science.
I just started the PhD this year. My research interest is in Mobile Computing, Collaborative Computing, Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (Cooperative Vehicular Communications, Optimizations for Vehicular Networks Emergency Applications, Communication Protocols, “Community Service” Applications, Implementation of Security, Data Dissemination Mechanisms, Information Management).
My thesis topic is not yet clearly decided. I look forward to this Summer School in Ohrid to meet new people, find useful information about the topic, get interesting ideas for my future research in the field I've chosen.

My name is Endrit Kromidha and I am a PhD student in the School of Management, Royal Holloway University of London in UK.
My research in focused on the role of international organizations and assistance on e-government projects for development, including the use of techologies in education.
I am currently working on the litterature review on international assistance, also looking at some theoretical and methodological aspects of actors, networks and strategies.
Being from Albania, my research focus is on the Balkan region. I am looking forward to this great new experience in Ohrid, where I plan to have a good time and exchange some valuable experiences with all of you!

Hello,
I am a PhD student and research and teaching assistant at the Department of Mathematics and Informatics, Faculty of Science, University of Novi Sad, Serbia. Mainly I teach programming courses for undergraduates (object-oriented programming, functional and logic programming languages), but also courses on e-Business and elective seminars on learning technologies. Part of my time is dedicated to teaching programming courses for talented students of mathematical orientation in specialized grammar school in Novi Sad.
My research interests include learning technologies, application of intelligent techniques, software engineering, programming languages and tools. As a researcher I participate in several scientific and educational projects. I my thesis I shall focus on exploring collaborative learning using data mining techniques.
I have several years of experience in practical aspects of employing learning technologies in everyday teaching practice, both as faculty's LMS administrator and instructional designer (of university courses and specialized programmes developed for Serbian Chamber of Commerce and GTZ), as well as official Moodle translator that maintains Serbian language packs for this platform.

Hi All,
I am from Romania, and currently studying and working in Ireland. In Romania I graduated the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, as a Computer Science Engineer in 2008. Regarding my current studies, I am first year Masters student at the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG), in the process of trasferring to PhD. I am also a researcher in Cyntelix, working for the European TARGET (www.reachyourtarget.com ) project, which is meant to train employees with no work experience, by means of serious games.
The research I do for TARGET is the starting point for my PhD thesis. In this regard, my main research interests are learning with serious games and learning within communities. At this stage, my main focus is on machine learning and reasoning techniques which can improve the human learning process.

I am a PhD-student from Department of Information Science and Media Studies, at the University of Bergen, Norway. My supervisor is Professor Barbara Wasson. I have a background from the social sciences and pedagogical information science, and my current research interests include:
- Technology Enhanced Learning and CSCL
- Mobile, Location-based games
- Mobile learning
For my PhD I have performed studies of a mobile, location-based game designed for learning, from a usability perspective, and for how to integrate outdoors gaming with indoor classroom activities. Recently, I have started to study participant/player interaction in mobile gaming using video as the data source, guided by interaction analysis.

I am from Portugal and I live at the shinny city of Aveiro.
I am a PhD student at the University of Aveiro (Department of Education & Department of Arts and Communication). I am also a fellowship researcher at the CIDTFF (Research Center for Didactics and Technology in Teacher Education).
My research field is connected with the TEL, more specifically with the use of virtual environments and web 2.0 tools for teaching and learning. I am still in an early stage of my PhD work.
I am a lecturer at Higher School of Education/Polytechics Institute of Santarém (Department of Educative Technologies) and I teach subjects related with multimedia and hipermedia.

Hello everyone,
I am a researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT in Germany. In our research group we collect Contextualized Attention Metadata (CAM), analyse them and try to use the results to support learners in their learning environments. For my PhD I am trying to detect a user's activity patterns with methods from the field of computational linguistics usually applied in syntactic analysis.
This year's summer school is my second one and I am already very much looking forward to meeting the other participants!

I am investigating technology-enhanced learning and information security and privacy at Jozef Stefan Institute, and lecturing and facilitating learning at Jozef Stefan International postgraduate school and Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, University of Maribor. Currently, most of my research time is devoted to the ICOPER (www.icoper.org) and OpenScout (www.openscout.net) projects on competence or learning outcome based learning in higher education (ICOPER) and management teaching and training in particular (OpenScout). Hello everyone,
I am Israel Gutiérrez, PhD student in the University Carlos III of Madrid (Spain) since about six months. My advisors are Prof. Carlos Delgado Kloos and Raquel M. Crespo, and my thesis topic is "Towards formative assessment methods based on the new communication paradigms". My background is in Telecommunication Engineering and Telematics, and also have worked as web, Java and mobile developer.
My research interests are centered in Technology Enhance Learning, focusing on the assessment process: assessment of collaboration, intelligent tutors, outcome-based assessment... and any other interesting stuff.
As this is my very first whatever-season school, I'm looking forward to getting there and meeting all of you.
