1. We need information

Before 24th September, please complete the short survey at

https://spreadsheets1.google.com/viewform?hl=en_GB&formkey=dDRDS0RNZklOLUlmNlRvQzk5YldDNlE6MA#gid=0

This information will help us understand you and what you want from the event. Please answer as fully as you can. It shouldn't take too long.

2. Pecha Kucha

You may be wondering what we mean by Pecha Kucha. Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pecha_Kucha for some history but basically the idea is that it is a carefully timed group presentation.

  • Create four slides presenting interesting information about yourself, for example your bio, your hobbies/activities, your interests, your slogan for life, your motto, your research in a nutshell, your take-home message, ..... (max 2 slides on work, others on YOU) (static content only, i.e. no animation, no video)
  • All presentations will be put into one presentation ordered alphabetically by surname
  • Every slide will be shown for a set number of seconds (20 - 30) depending on how many slides there are altogether (changes between slides will be automated)
  • The person whose slides are visible goes to front and presents their slides (there will be a five/ten seconds view of a slide with the name of the person to present next so that there is time to go up front)

The presentations should be emailed to Maren Scheffel (maren.scheffel@fit.fraunhofer.de) by September 22 at 12 noon.

3. Group work

The programme is designed to involve PhD candidates in a discussion of their own work. You will be placed in a group and will work within the group between 11 and 12:30 in the morning. You will be contacted about which group you are in and what you should do.

4. Individual presentations

Some participants will present their work in detail in the afternoon. Those participants will be notified by email.
