Call for participation for Chinese PhD students for the Chinese-European Matchmaking Summer SchoolEvent on Technology Enhanced Learning

http://www.dlc.sjtu.edu.cn/chineseeuropean_summer_school_matchmaking_event_technology_enhanced_learning or http://goo.gl/yoZze

The first Joint Chinese-European Matchmaking Summer School Event on Technology-Enhanced Learning will take place from Friday, July 8th to Tuesday, July 12th in Shanghai, China. It is jointly organized by the e-learning lab of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the European Network of Excellence STELLAR.

The Matchmaking Summer School Event aims at bringing together PhD students from China and Europe to foster international cooperation, identifying common research questions and broadening the perspectives by becoming aware of cultural differences and similarities. Several internationally renowned experts in TEL will introduce participants into the current state-of-the-art and help them to gain an understanding of the challenges of TEL from multi-cultural perspectives. The participants will perform matchmaking with their Chinese/European counterparts and jointly work and discuss on their topics.

The programme includes lectures from a broad range of domains which contribute to advancing the field of Technology Enhanced Learning. The programme also includes practical and methodological workshops and opportunities for doctoral candidates to develop their personal research. Students will present and discuss their doctoral work.

The Summer School will take place in Shanghai and Wuzhen, China. It will be hosted at the Xuhui campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (2 days), and  in the beautiful water town Wuzhen (2 days). Both places are an ideal venue, contrasting between the dynamic, never-sleeping metropolis Shanghai and the peaceful and quiet village of Wuzhen.

Who can apply: this call is directed at PhD students in China working in the area of Technology Enhanced Learning. Applications should be submitted before May 25, 2011. Please download the Matchmaking Summer School Event application form: http://www.dlc.sjtu.edu.cn/sites/default/files/SummerSchoolMatchMakingEventApplicationForm.rtf or http://goo.gl/kgdww. The European participants consist of PhD students selected by the STELLAR NoE for the CSCL 2011 Doctoral Consortium.
